Mentoring helps people to gain confidence, grow and develop in their professional roles through the support and encouragement of a mentor with first-hand experience of such a role.
The mentoring process is confidential. It offers the support and understanding of someone who has experienced the role themselves, who has no hidden agenda, and with whom it is safe to share thoughts and concerns. The mentor focuses on the interests of the mentee and can act as a ‘critical friend’.
LL&A associates Linda Laurance and Karen Heenan are experienced mentors, particularly skilled in working with Chairs and chief executives. The process is structured to meet the needs of the ‘mentee’, either as a brief intervention or a longer-term relationship.
